Overview of Remnants of Atlantis

This is just a summary of the first book in the series that I'm writing.

In one night the entire world of members of a quiet community living within the protective walls of an island that looks like so many barren islands near the mouth of the Mediterranean sea is turned upside down when a traitor from their midst brings a flotilla of a mixture of Romans and pirates to their shores and carries of most of the population as slaves as well as almost anything not nailed down.  Unfortunately for those left on the island for a variety of reasons, they didn't get everyone and those that are left are far from helpless. The invaders are in for a deadly surprise.

Ichtha and her twin sister Terra escaped and hid themselves during the raid and they are joined by their soon to be mother-in-law Eldreth and decide to make their home safe again.

Terra, a wild warrior becomes an assassin, pretending to be the Dark Lady, Hel, the Atlantian goddess of death and vengeance. Going from group to group she slaughters the invaders as they relax around their fires, enjoying their spoils or torturing those unfortunate enough to have fallen into their hands. She liberates children, and a young weather mage by the name of Alyse. Alyse proves to be an excellent student as she follows Terra and helps execute justice on those who think that they are alone on the island.

Ichtha, the high priestess of Clyeos, the god of the sea and all things living in it had been given two gifts by her father before he took his final breaths, gills and a bond to her fiancee, Benoheim. Although she is less inclined to violence than her twin, she proves to be just as effective in dispatching those who are on their shores and locates gilled warriors who had been banished from the land for falling asleep on their posts. With her Drowned Guard, she makes her way through the saltwater canals as she is taught the use of her gills by a pair of old friends who are true merfolk, complete with fish like tails. In her travels she encounters Edda, a young seer who had been raised in hiding, living within the tunnels and secret passageways that riddle the island and preparing to help those that would be left on the island after the raid.

Eldreth made her way through the freshwater channels and although she is exceptionally deadly in her own right, she is truly a matriarch and becomes an adopted mother to many of the children who were hiding during the raid and escaped.

As the trio of Eldreth, Ichtha, and Terra make their way through their island home they recover other noteworthy individuals and masters of their own magics and gifts. Uthric, a prodigy among the weather mages, is discovered having escaped by being in a hammock suspended between two whirlwinds in sacks many feet in the air. Myra (an acolyte of the Dark Lady) Eir (a white Druid) Theo (a Walker, who walks on water and through fire with ease) and others were discovered near a fountain after getting their captors drunk and encouraging them to succumb to the siren magic in her voice that draws them into the water to be drowned by the drowned guard. Odin, (a seer, and the older brother of Edda) leads a group with Terra to finish scouring the island and accumulates Isis (Eir's mother and a dark shape shifter) Thor (a Paladin who has barely learned the proper use of his hammer to knock people from their bodies) Erik (a farmer and berserker when activated) and a plant singer by the name of Frigga. A trio of friends (Odysseus, Orion, and Oberon) had been out capturing and bonding a Leviathan to one of them and return with a battered ship, the leviathan which looks like an oriental dragon with white scales, and are stunned to find that almost everyone is gone.

Captives are taken by the Atlantians, and the would be captors are put to work building up the homes and defenses of the island.  Some take very well to the work and prove to be good workers and even eventually get trained to help defend the island.

In certain circumstances, love blooms between survivors and the bonding ceremonies bonding soul to soul start the beginnings of rebuilding their people,

Eventually pirates and Romans each decide to visit the island again, only to find it well defended and have their lives taken and ships taken.

Bonds of friendship are forged with the captives and considerations are made to adopt them into the magical bloodlines that gift the Atlantians with the powers and gifts that make them so powerful.

The five member godhead gets involved and gives the survivors hints, helps, and tasks that are mind blowing at times to those who are left, including one final mission.... Go to the sunken capital and recover key items and liberate the innocents trapped when the city was sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
